My apologizes

My sincere apologizes to everyone due to my lack of communication to all. After my last post my school work doubled which caused me not keep up with the latest news. However I’m proud to say that the semester has finished with spectacular grades especially in my web development class. As a result of I have the desire of continuing my learning of ASP.net development. Also I can develop e-commerce web applications but I’ll make sure that I tell my prospective client if there is something that I can’t do.

A big thank you to Dr. Meg Murray for helping me with my projects and class work. You are an inspiration to me to continue learning this great technology.

For my ASP.net class that I took, we had two projects that we had to do. One is an appointment scheduler for a fictitious salon and a web services project. I’m not going to explain in great detail here however there two points that I’m going to address here. One is I can sell a product that schedules appointments online so if you are a company that has customers that come by on a regular bases (salons, daycare, professors, etc) then I’m there for you. My second point is I don’t do web services (maybe in a couple of years from now). The reason that I’m telling you this is because I am providing you the opportunity took look at my reports online. Rodriguez Studios will be closed during Christmas day, the good news is before I join the festivities with my family and friends, I’ll be checking my email every opportune moment that I am available. An Update

Good things are happening with Rodriguez Studios. One is now I offer technical support via online. That means if you are willing me to get into your system to check out what's going on and I will fix it online! So if you are in a different state or anywhere around the world, I am able to provide you assistance. All you need is your computer, internet connection, Windows Messenger account, and most importantly your permission. All I will need from is you to go to my website, click on the contact form, fill it out completely or email me to service@rodriguezstudios.com

Along with your Windows Live Messenger ID.

The other option is that I can send you a session password to your email (make sure you use Internet Explorer in order to work) download that small file on your computer, open “Remote Assistance” enter the password that I provided you, follow the easy instructions and we all set to go.

Good news for those who are college students, faculty and staff. I offer a flat rate of $500 with free maintenance. That will include your design, work, logo, updates, tech support, and forms. If you want your website to be editable so you won't have to go through me then I will add $200 more. ASP.net is coming along very well; I am working one of my projects for the semester so hopefully I'll give more details when I'm finish with it.

Windows Vista Pt 2

Alright, it’s time that I broadcast to everyone what’s been going on. It’s been a while since the last entry when I was jumping up and down because I installed Windows Vista on my laptop. Well I still am, mainly I am getting positive results, no system crashes, or anything out of the ordinary. However there are a just a few issues I am having but nothing that will cause me to downgrade back to XP.

First the battery just drains my system. Truthfully I am not really sure about it because mainly I am just concentrated on my work and time just flies! However I do recharge my laptop quite frequently.

The very first Monday when I went back to school after installing Vista, Kennesaw State University wireless didn’t work (I wouldn’t say that entirely. Mainly it’s a security issue). Let me explain. KSU implemented a more secure wireless in the spring semester of 2007. In order use their wireless you must use your wireless wizard (duh, for any wireless access point), enter the login and password that is supplied by the University, then you’ll fire up your browser, and accept the certificate of authorization Then a screen will come on asking for your KSU NetID and password plus guests are able to use the wireless by entering their email address. For some funny reason, it’s not accepting my netid or password since my other campus resources works fine. Temporally I am using the guest wireless until help desk helps me with my issue.

Finally the last issue I would like to inform you. I downloaded trial software of Adobe Flash CS3 and somehow I am not having a trial. They are asking me to enter a valid serial number in order to use it. I think I have heard that they are not letting anyone use their software if it has been activated on Windows Vista.

Now here is a little trick. If you were going to buy Flash for $690 at some online store, you aren’t going to get your money’s worth at all. Plus you’ll going to pay more if you are going to get Creative Suite. So let me ask you this. How would you say if you can get Creative Suite 3 Web Premium just for $489.85? Do a little research and see what it comes with the package. It’s mind blowing!

Okay, now let me inform you about my classes. My classes are going very well, it’s been five weeks already so if you want time to fly by, keep yourself busy. I am learning a lot in my CSIS 4305. A little recap about the class, it’s about learning the backend of the server with ASP.net. Currently we are going over SQL server and it’s totally different from MySQL and PHP. There is minimum programming because Visual Studios 2005 does the coding for you. I’ll still use the famous open source software for flash but I know you can embed ASP.Net with flash. By the time I’m done learning this stuff I’ll be selling appt forms, online stores, and etc.

Well I’ve addressed all of the issues that I have with Windows Vista but I am defiantly going to keep using it for a long time. Apparently this is the new operating system on the market and it’s taking over XP. Ciao

Windows Vista

Alright Amigos and Fellow Clients, It’s about time that you get an update of what’s going on with Rodriguez Studios. So sit back, fasten your seat belt, and enjoy the ride in cyberspace!
First of all I have been doing a website for the Wesley foundation at Kennesaw State University. So far everyone loves what I have done. If you wanna take a sneak peak here it is. http://www.ksuwesley.org

Now here is a riddle for you. What is an operating system that is very high tech, with a high graphical interface, with Windows Aero Experience , and that just been recently released? Well if you guess Windows Vista then you are correct.
I would like to announce that I am a very brave soul of upgrading my laptop to one of the new operating systems from Microsoft. The version that my laptop will support is Windows Vista Home Premium.

Upgrading was very challenging at first because I used the upgrade feature instead of clean install which I did the next day. Now I have the experience to share with everyone. Please note that I do not provide support for Windows Vista until I know every speck of the program itself. However I can share you what I have done to resolve this issue of the installation process. Before I went to bed, I went to a Windows Vista forum on facebook so I can find a solution. Also I have asked a couple of my friends and they told me that using the upgrade will defiantly will cause problems even if your system is up-to-date.

So the following morning, I took this advice and guess what??? I am right down to business plus it only took an hour and a half to do the entire process. Thanks James, you are a lifesaver!

After turning on the computer twice, here is what I have seen on the new operating system. If you are a movie buff like me, you’ll never have to buy dvd software to watch your movies. I previously had Media Center XP so in order to watch movies; you had to purchase software like cyberlink in order to watch flicks on Windows media player or Media Center regardless. I don't have a state of the art graphic card but sorry XP, after watching Independence Day is WAY better than going to the movies. The sounds are superb in contrary to XP. I have a HD sound card but vista really made that bad boy really work!

My computer boots up faster than the previous OS but Installations of applications like Office ‘07 Pro, Visio, Visual Studios ‘05, took a while. But nowthe installation of software is a lot faster now due to Windows Updates and frequent usage.

Tip# 1. An 80 GB will do the job but get a 120 GB will be good if you are a hard core gamer or developer.

Tip# 2. Once you have done the installation of Vista, activate online. You've got 30 days to do it otherwise Vista won't work anymore

If anyone is planning to upgrade their system, come to me cause now I'm experienced full of knowledge and I'm always be glad to help you out. Trust me it might very beneficial that you do because I can supply you with the necessary tips and instructions in order for things to work.I'll miss XP because it puts WIN ME to shame literally but I'll have my trusty old desktop to continue my XP experience as a user.

Okay folks, I probably assume that you are drooling since I told you what Vista has done for me. Students, Faculty, and Staff can get great software at http://www.campustech.com at prices you won’t possibly imagine.

First full week of school

Yayy!!! I’m back in school. I may sound a little nerdy but it’s all good. I am very blissful that I had a very good and productive summer although going back to the world of academia is rewarding since there is a never ending of learning. Let’s see, I spent a lot of time with family and friends, stayed in the best city in the world ATLANTA, and finally founded my company Rodriguez Studios.

I’ll be taking a full load as usual but my classes will be during the evenings so I can spend time at home cramming for exams and doing stuff for my clients. The hours of operation has changed a little so check out the website for an update (Please plan accordingly). However feel free to send me an email with your requests, comments, or questions and I’ll respond when I am done with classes and my engagements.

About my classes, I’ll be taking a web systems development course (KSU Peeps its CSIS 4305, that’s right it’s a senior class course). It’s about the backend of a website so basically its server stuff. For those who understand the jargon of computers I’ll be learning Ajax, ASP.NET, XML, Javascript, and all of that jazz. So that means “More knowledge, More Services offered”

I’ll be taking Spanish I (si hablo español), Programming Principles I (Java, sounds fun) and Technical Writing (for a technical savvy like myself). About my Spanish class, I won’t be necessary to take it anymore because my professora made us do a placement exam on the first day of class and it turns out that my knowledge of the language is very advanced. Weird huh? I guess two years of high school Spanish and watching Star Wars on DVD (Spanish track) Really paid off.

It so happens that I want to expand my horizons by adding a blog onto my website so anyone can be informed of what’s going on at Rodriguez Studios. I figured, why anyone would want to subscribe to a newsletter that is delivered to your email inbox that would cause to clutter with useless information. You can conveniently add the RSS feed icon on your favorite web browser without any hassles. Just go to my main website, click either the Blog button or click the RSS feed button above the “Stop” and “Play” buttons.

This medium will be used for broadcasting news about my new services, informing current clients what’s going on with the company such as hour changes, and any important information about my life. (This Blog is highly recommended for current clients of mine). The general public is welcome too because I’ll post stuff that you might find very beneficial.
